England In Photos: Week 4 - London, Part 3

This is part three of a three part photo series from our recent trip to London (the weekend of February 18, 2012).

The collection posted just in time too, because this weekend we take a trip North to Cumbria, where we hear it is very beautiful, to visit our friend, and guest blogger from our other blog, Kerry Stott.

Not sure the name of the building, but we likes the
architecture and the  statue above the window

The Heroes With Grimy Face
A memorial in front of St Paul's Cathedral, one of the surviving buildings of the Blitz, over 7 months of bombing of London during World War II, to the firefighters (1027 men, and 24 woman) who gave their lives  defending London.

The Found Monkey's of London
Our own tour of found Graffiti Monkey's. Not sure why they were there, other than graffiti "vandals", but we found four before the day light got too dim to take adequate pictures. (There is a brown one missing)

 Architecture of downtown London...
London does not have a particular style of architecture, rather a collection of architectural styles from it's vast history, the core of which dates back to medieval times (Middle Ages, as far back as the 5th century, in 400 AD). For this reason we will be adding to the architectural photographs in successive posts as we get the opportunity to visit London more in the neat future. Enjoy the unique beauty of what we have photographed so far.
Loved the juxtaposition of the very modern, and the
very classic architecture existing side by side.

Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Circus
The Angel of Christian Charity, later named The Eros of the Greek God of Love and Beauty, is the statue in the fountain and is a memorial to Lord Shaftesbury who was known for his support of the poor.
